Lower unit

I have a 66 johnson 60 hp my question is will a 59 johnson 50 hp lower unit interchange.

That is a good question. If they are both manual shifts, they have a chance.

Do they both have the shift shaft disconnect in the same place on the midsection?

If i remember i think they do. I just bought the 60hp and was testing it and the propeller shaft fell out. I have a good lower unit from the 50hp. I was hoping they would interchange so i don't have to try and get all the seals and parts for the 60hp
