This is the screen of my fish finder.
I had it on factory settings.
What is wrong?

It looks like you need to turn the gain down. Take it off factory settings.

Lowrance manuals leave a lot to be desired, so it can be frustrating to learn the details of the unit. The menus aren't easy to use either, so navigating them to try and make adjustments can bring you to tears.

Your best bet is to check out some You Tube videos and see what the screen looks like when you adjust certain features to get it dialed in. Every unit will be different, but close enough for you to get an idea of what needs to be done.

How fast were you going when you see this? How is your transducer mounted?

That screen picture was taken while standing still. Tried to play with settings (noise reduction, surface clarity...) with not much luck.
The transducer is positioned the same way I always position my transducers.

So you hit menu, scrolled down to adjust, then turned the sensitivity down? I find that it normally needs to be cranked rather high, but most of my fishing is done deeper water, in some conditions it needs to be much lower. I leave the surface clutter filter off and don't pay attention to the first foot or so, but with the sensitivity down the surface should clear up a bit.

I hated my Elite 4 the first few times I used it, but after a while I figured out how get it dialed in and it works pretty good now.
