Hey all,

I recently installed the Lowrance LCX-26c HD Fish Finder/GPS Combo Unit on my 17' Lowe Fish & Ski Aluminum Deep Vee Boat.

I Just purchased the EP-10 NMEA Fuel Flow sensor to add onto this system.

In the instructions, It says the sensor Should be installed vertically, However it doesn't have any screw holes to mount it, so in this case it is going to follow the fuel line....

How important is it that the sensor be mounted vertically? The way my fuel line runs, with out somehow mounting the sensor, it would sit mostly horizontal

Thanks,

-TheChad

Use a clamp to secure the fuel line so the transducer is vertical. The reason they want it vertical is because air can be trapped in the turbine causing it to provide an erroneous signal. In vertical orientation the turbine housing will always be full of fuel. The same logic applies to your primer bulb. It too should be oriented vertically to ensure the check valves function properly. That's the only way it can be kept full of fuel.

I guess I missed those directions when I installed mine.

Mine is at a 45 degree angle.

So far, mine is reading more fuel used than what I am putting back in the tank. I am hoping the calibration procedure takes care of this eventually.

A 45 degree angle will not be a problem. It's horizontal orientation that creates the issue. At 45 degrees the turbine housing will still be nearly full of fuel. I use a Navman 2100 and it is remarkably accurate.

Having it horizontal will introduce slosh factor where the fuel will slosh back anf forth and cause inaccurate readings. Just creat a loop[ in your fuel line and insert it in the vertical section.
