Hi guys, I am looking at a hand held H20C, I am trying to down load the demo to my computer, I run XP and my resolution is set at 800/600 as requested by Lowrance instructions.

I down load but the image is to large for my screen which is 17" it cuts off the last row of buttons in the bottom.

Has this happened to anyone?

Would appreciate some help, Thanks .

Re: Lowrance H20C GPS

I have a 15" monitor set to 1024 X 768 and it works fine on it. BTW, the H20C is hard to see in bright sunlight. I went back to the B&W model because of that.

Thanks very much, I tried it on 1024x768 and it works but it makes my screen icons small, I guess you cant win them all.

You mention that the color screen is hard to see in the sunlight which model did you have? Do you think the Ifinder would be better?

Have a nice evening.

bhile & JC1933,

One thing that I found that helped out quite a bit is if the sun is glaring on the monitor or if it is hard to see, that wearing polarized glasses helps cut the glare.

Re: Lowrance H20C GPS

I have had a Garmin GPSMAP 76 for many years and just got a Lowrance H2O C 3 weeks ago. I allready love the H2O C. In the bright sunlight with the sun behind you can see without the light on but have to get the angle right. With the light on can see better. Under the soft top of my runabout with the light on works just fine. Much eaiser to see than My old GpsMap 76.
The unit finds position in half the time and redraws the map very fast.

When running with track up my GpsMap 76 takes forever to redraw the map and add all the details when you make a turn. The H2O C redraws instantly. You never see a time when you look down and the screen is blank. The purple track line that show where you have been is very easy to see.

It only 3 weeks old and I love it already.

I got the H20 color and I like it so far, You really need to get the Mapcreate
software with it to utilize it better. You can also download advanced lake maps from Lorance's web site. I didnt have any problem on the imulator down load.

Unfortunately you will only find enhanced lakes on their website that are not on a Hot Spots Elite card. I guess they want you to buy the card.

Yea they want you to buy the card, I just have a hard time coughing up a
$100-$150 for just a few lakes I fish. To bad you cant just buy the lakes you want.

Re: Lowrance H20C GPS

I do not think I will ever buy the any lakes maps. I caugh lots of fish before depth finders and GPS units and I catch fish now. Out here the lake level may change by 80 feet. The high water somewhere around July 4 and low water about the end of October. Since it does not rain at all from End of may til October 15th. With a portable GPS go to the lake in the fall when the water is low and move around the lake then get out of the boat and walk up to that big pile of rocks you know will hold fish when the water is 15 to 30 from deep and set a waypoint. When your fishing and find a good spot set a waypoint and note water depth. it wont take long and you will have a set of waypoints that is better than any lake map. I fish the same lakes and river alot but when you head out to fish need more than a map. On a hot summer day where the temperature may go from 60 at 5Am to 105 at 5 PM fish will not fee at the same place in morning and afternoon. In the morning may catch them in 8 to 15 feet of water and in the afternoon may be as deep as 45 feet. Many catch fish in the AM shallow and leave by noon and think they only feed in the AM when other catch fish all day long by changing depth. It the reason you learn each lake you fish and Pre fish before every tournament.

The depth finder will help you find the depth of the fish and the GPS will help you find your know good spots but knowledge of the fish and the lake is what will catch you the most fish. It the reason some people always catch fish while other rarely catch fish.

I do think the map Create 7.0 with the card reader will be worth the price. To load firmware updates and back up your waypoints to a memory card and computer.

Re: Lowrance H20C GPS

I was also interested in the Lowrance H2O C.

It seems most are happy with the unit.

I have an SD card reader now and USB cables. Is the USB cable a special one only for the Lowrance?

Is there any other software that can be used beside the MapCreate 7.0?

Re: Lowrance H20C GPS

All you need is the card reader. Check Lowrance's web site for compatible software. I know the new fishing hot spots pro will work with it and I believe the navionics will too. You will also need the 12V power supply as they like batteries. The new units did come with them so I guess they still do.

I own and use the regular B&W version and cannot imagine how the color one would be worth an additional 100 bucks. Just my .02.

Also, you can make your icons as large as you want them even with a higher screen resolution.

I do not think the Lowrance H2O C has a USB cable at least my unit did not come with one. It does come with a 12 volt power plug that converts the voltage down to 3 volts. To load Firmware and Maps you need the Lowrance Card reader. Load your maps from the computer to a MMC or SD card 1GB or smaller then put the card in the unit to Update firmware or maps.

For me the color unit is worth every penny of the extra cost. It just so much better display and Icons show up great.

Has anyone got the Mapcreate 7 yet. Looks like it has detailed information for USA West Coast Marine. Interested in how far insland and how far offshore the coverage is. Example does it cover San Francisco and San Pablo bay as Well as the Farlon Islands?
