Anyone have any comments to share regarding this unit? It seems to pack a ton of features in a portable unit.

Thanks

Re: Lowrance iFinder H20 handheld gps

I like what I see but it is brand new. I went to 4 boat shows hoping to see the new Lowrance units but lowrance had none on display yet. I would like to see how is does in dim light like in the car morning and night.

I have a Garmin GPSMap76 and the unit works great but hard to see in the car a lot of the time. The pictures of the Lowrance units appears like it would be easy to see in dim light but I have to see it before I buy it. It does come with good base map with aids to navigation and also a lighter power plug.

Tht Product emulator is now on the Lowrance web site but I tried to load it about 2 weeks ago and could not get it to load. One spec I do not see is how much internal memory it has for maps. It looks like there is an external memory card reader to read mmc cards.

http://www.lowrance.com/outdoor/Products/ifinderh2o.asp

If you get to see it I would love to here your impressions and a report back. Most unit when they first come out will have some problems that will need to be corrected. Example MY Garmin GPSMAP76 is up to it's 12 firmware upgrade. Some were to fix big problems like locks up, some added more waypoints, and some did things like add other laungages. Garmin is good about making free upgrades your can down load to fix the problems but not as sure about Lowrance.

Re: Lowrance iFinder H20 handheld gps

I did play with the emulator. I was glad to see that the menu is basically the same as the other lowrance/eagle gps units. I also confirmed that is has the same base map and the same processor speed as its big brothers.

I have traded emails with people that have this unit and the feedback was 100% positive.

I decided to take the plunge. The unit should be at my house by Tuesday. I'll share my impressions as soon as I can.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Lowrance iFinder H20 handheld gps

I've got the iFinder and it does everything I would expect a handheld GPS to do for me. The mmc card is also compatible with the x18c sonar/gps unit on my boat.

The only downside I found is not really a problem with the unit but the mapcreate software. This glitch is mainly if you plan on using it for land navigation since there are some highways listed that have been closed down for over 10 years and other new highways that have opened up at least 5 yrs ago that are not listed. This only pertains to recently constucted and/or closed highways and Lowrance may have current updates in the pipeline to correct this from the three yr old 6.2 version that I am using. If you plan to use it for marine purposes, I don't see this issue would be a prevailing problem.

All in all, I don't think you will be disappointed in the iFinder.
