Looking at buying a boat with a lowrance lc-x17c and can't find much info on this unit. Guy says it was brand new in 07 but didn't tell me if it's color or black and white. Also anyone have any reviews on this unit, not much of a lowrance fan and hate to buy the boat and have to replace the finder, gps because I didn't know much about it. Thanks in advance.

The c = color.

The LCX series wasn't one of Lowrance's best efforts. Some units where released then discontinued within a year. Lots of really dissatisfied customers.....myself included. Sold the unit and vowed never to own another Lowrance product ever again.

I use to have a LCX 27c and it was the greatest unit I've ever had. Using a HDS 7 now but haven't used it enough to learn much about it.

I certainly wouldn't make the decision to buy the boat based on that display, one way or the other. It's an older unit. When they work, they work well. Fairly easy to use and still have a decent resale value if you get the boat and end up hating it.

As usual thanks for the input. I'm not basing my buying decision on the electronics but it could be a bargaining chip based on info that I didn't know before. He is a little on the high side on the price of the boat and I know what I want as far electronics go. Thanks again.
