Took out a boat I just bought that has a Lowrance lcx-15mt installed
Everything seemed to work on it except that it would not read depth or show a chart
I see two transducers so I assume one is the 50 khz and one is the 200khz??

any ideas as to why everything but the depth/sonar would work?

I'm guessing something is up with one or both of the transducers but do not know where to start or what to look for

thanks!

I bought a boat that came with the same unit 7 years ago. Both 50 and 200 kHz where contained in a singe transducer.

The maps where inadequate to say the least and the transducer died two weeks after I got it. I sold the thing on E-bay and bought a Furuno.

Hmmm, well that's not encouraging!

I have two transducers though. I guess one could be a leftover from a previous unit?? No way to know

When your transducer died, would you get readings for everything else? Water temp, distance, volts etc...

It's just odd to me that every other aspect is functioning but I get no depth reading

Are both transducers connected to the unit? Do both connectors fit the unit? The standard" transducer for that units has 50/200 functionality in one transducer. Could be the original transducer ($125) went out and they wanted to save a couple of bucks and bought a 200 kHz stand alone. Could be from a second unit they removed.

The transducer has nothing to do with the other functions. If the lights and windshield wipers work on a car, does that mean that the brakes work?

Point taken

So if the second one is a replacement and is connected I should be able to select it in sonar setup. Otherwise I need to run the cable to find out which is connected and providing the other data.

Also, if you are familiar with this unit, it has a sonar simulator. What purpose does that serve? Testing when not on the water?

thanks!

The simulator just lets you run the unit out of water and see/set-up functions. It kind of for training you to use the unit not really for testing it.
