My friend dropped my LCX-15mt chart plotter/gps and cracked the screen. I was just going to replace it with another LCX-15 mt but now I started looking around. I can get another mono screen but could I not just get another LCX model and it would just plug in to my gps ant. and my 50/100 transducer? This way I could get a somewhat newer unit and maybe go color. I sure miss that old 15 had it for 11 years.

Thanks.

I would not get a new unit and keep 15-year-old peripherals.

50/100 transducer? Perhaps 50/200?

I too run an lcx-15mt. Two of em actually. I can't afford a new unit so I make due.... The parts for these are NLA. If you are in a position to spend some money, take this as a chance to start from scratch.... You're gonna be mighty upset if you scrounge up another unit to use the same antennae and then the antennae goes out. While these old units do work well for what they are, the new stuff blows em away.

If your budget is tight like mine, scour c/l and fleabay for another lcx unit and try to get by a little longer.... just keep in mind, your antenna could go out at any time. and THEN you get to start over.

Yes I'm on my 3rd antenna. Though it has lasted the last 8 years without an issue. They are crap and Lowrance knew they were and continued to sell them even though they knew they wouldn't last.

Well I ended up paying 200 for another one off e-bay. It got me back up and running and I didn't have to rewire the whole darn boat again. Kind of funny as I have 2 of the 50/200 transducers on the back of the boat because one crapped out after a year. Lowrance was kind enough in their heart to send me a replacement. But only before the warranty was out. Still I think they have the best quality stuff.

Maybe the best quality ?stuff?, but certainly not the best quality electronics. They are not even playing in the same league as some of the manufacturers. Doubt you?ll find any Lowrance ?stuff? on a Naval or Coast Guard boat. ;)

Ah come on now. You and I both know this is a boating forum. Not a vessel forum. When you start talking about displacement and tonnage well that's a totally different scene.

So now that I decided to ignore all the great relies. I ended up buying another broken one off e-bay for 50 bucks. Had a good screen but the gps was broken. So I took the one out of it and swapped it in mine and took my old cracked but still good screen and put it on the broken gps one. So now I have a good LCX-15 for the console and a cracked broken one with bad gps but good graph for the bow of the boat beside the trolling motor. Win win for 50 bucks.
