Lowrance Network - Running Cable through Grommet on Motor?

I haven't looked closely at the cowling yet where the engine wires enter, but I am thinking there isn't a hole, or available spot to exit the Lowrance Interface Cable for my HDS-10 unit. What have people been doing to run the cable through the big rubber grommet? ....cut the interface cable, drill a hole in the rubber grommet, run cable through, and then solder the connections back together?

Also, does anyone know if I need the network power cable hooked up to the network? I am thinking the HDS unit will supply the power? I am just running the interface cable to the motor, and that's all.

What are you trying to hook up?

One would think any of the new motors that support a NMEA 2000 connection would make make room for the cable where the wiring harness passes thru the cowl.

NO don't cut the cable. drill a hole if you cant find one

i think you need to power that from a switched fused power source

Do Not cut the cable!!

You don't say what year or model your engine is, so we can't be specific in our help.

However, on my 2007 Suzuki 140 DF, the grommet has extra holes for t5he additional cables and there are cuts in the rubber that allow access to the holes.
