Lowrance Transducer (HDS)?

Recently I returned my HDS-10 back to Lowrance for repair and they found the unit was bad. So, they shipped me a new unit (replacement). Within the packaging, they included a transducer, which is significantly different than the one I previously have and mounted on the boat. The old transducer is much smaller compared to the unit that shipped with the replacement monitor.

I am wondering if it is a better transducer, or more newer model of transducer. I think I'll swap them as the newer seems to be beefer! I don't think it is a 50khz versus 83/200 which is normally used?

The "new" transducer looks like Lowrance's typical 50/200 unit. Can't speak for the orginal.

Re: Lowrance Transducer (HDS)?

What they sent you is the transom mount dual frequency 50/200 khz transducer which may or may not have a temp probe on it. Your other (original) probably works fine but does it have a temp probe? You might opt to use the new one if your old one doesn't read temp otherwise just hold on to it in the event something happens to the original.
The new one you got is what I have on my boat that I got with my 111cHD unit but I also use it with my HDS 10 unit. I actually run both types of transducers but they're on different boats that I swap my units in & out of. It (50/200) works just fine with either unit but I believe it's more for salt water use since it's better at reading deeper depths and I think the cone angle is also different.

You might want to check LEI extras.com or Lowrance.com for more info on Lowrance transducers.
