Hopefully this won't start the war....I've read all the posts I can, and am also watching youtube video's

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking for some type of objective information on Lowrance V. Hummingbird down scan down imaging with and without side scan imaging.

Looks to me like HB would be cheaper, and only 1 unit, not 2 to install.

Looks to me like both will allow you to "scroll back" and mark something you saw as a waypoint.

Looks to me like both come with color, and lots of waypoints.

What am I missing? Warranty, clarity, ruggedness, ease of installation,

If it helps, I fish lakes in Montana for walleye, trout, lakers, etc. Most of my fishing is under 50 feet, but every now and then I fish for lakers at 230 foot or so (jigging), I also troll at times with a downrigger, I'm in an 18 1/2 WT boat, will be putting a new minn kota with Ipilot on the front when the 2012's come out.

Current fishfinders are a lowrance x135 at the driverr's seat and a cheap HB up front. Both ducers are at the back of the boat.

Thanks guys...

What about quality?

DS is the biggest bunch of marketing hype to come out since HDS sonar. Unless you?re using DS to indentify structure, it?s pretty useless as a fishing tool. You can see things/situations on conventional sonar that you could only dream of picking up with DS.
