Lowrance X-65 question. Internal battery?

For the last few years, when I've gone back into the water in the spring, a strange thing occurs. When I first hook up my X-65 unit, it doesnt work well. The screen display is very faint, hardly visible actually. Then, for the first few outings it simply doesnt work as it is supposed to(doesnt hold bottom, acts irradically etc..). Then, after abouta week it starts working normally again. My question: Is there a reason for this? Is there some kind of "internal battery" that needs to be recharged before it begins to work properly? It came with a used boat and the owner manual is long gone so I've been a little perplexed by this. Any ideas?

sorry don't know the answer to your question - never heard of one with a rechargeable battery inside (or any battery for that matter, although most of 'em do "remember" some of the user settings while off) - is it subjected to extreme temps during the winter? If its not in-dash it might help to bring it in - might have some components extra-sensitive to cold. To me, temperature seems a more likely suspect than time.
