Lowrance x-65 speedometer not working

My Lowrance unit is working in every way except for the MPH. It seems to have just stopped out of the blue, but the depth finder and water temp are still displayed fine. I have looked at the transom mounts and there are 3, one is a spinning wheel type, one is an upside down shark fin looking mount, and the last is the actual depth transducer itself(in the shape of maybe a small soap bar). Since I bought the boat used and the wiring is a bit confusing, can anyone tell me which of these 3 mechanisms is responsible for the MPH? Im not even sure if all 3 are actually hooked up, or have just been left there by the previous owner. Is there any quick fix since I still have it on land? Those things get a little tricky to work on once they are launched. Thanks

hmmm...

Well I'd say that the spinning wheel is the one you need to be looking at for speed..

I seriously doubt Lowrance would use a water pressure speedo pickup (particularly in a fish finda), so it has to be the wheel..

check the condition of the wheel, is it spinning freely?

if so, its time you trace the wiring and perhaps get out your multimeter.

regards

Franki

Patrolcarr
Franki is right the spinning wheel is use by Lowrance for Speed and Distance. Check the wheel first and see if it turns free. Sometimes people mount them on a angle so it rubs on one side and does not turn at right speed. Also make sure pin did not come out on one side.

If it turns ok then I would check the plug. Two plugs go into the back of your unit. One for the transducer and one for the power. The one for power goes to power but will also go to another plug for Speed sensor and another for Temp sensor.
