Looking at buying a new Lowrance X96 for my console and moving my older eagle to the trolling motor. My question is can I use my old speed sensor from my eagle with the new lowrance unit, or will I have to pay another $90 for a new unit.

Re: Lowrance X96 Question

After doing a search of fish finders I think I will get the Eagle Seafinder 480df as it comes with a speed sensor and is only $10 more than the the Fishmark 480. Looks like a great unit, cannot see any difference between the Seafinder and the Fishmark except for the inclusion of the speed transducer in the package. Anyone out there have any experience with these units.

Re: Lowrance X96 Question

Eagle and Lowrance Fish finders use different transducers when go to dual frequency.

The Single frequency like the Fishmark 480 comes with a 20 degree 200 KHZ transducer.

The Dual Frequency units like the SeaFinder 480 DF comes with a 12 degree 200 Khz tranducer and a 37 degree 50 Khz transducer. The reason they do that is the dual Frequency is usually used for SaltWater and the narrow cone angle will help the unit read fish and bottom deeper. You will see a smaller area of the bottom but be able to see deeper. Still with only 187 watts RMS will not see very deep in salt water.
