Hope someone has some ideas that can help
Have been wacking at this all afternoon (such a fine Sunday in the Denver area) I would rather be, at least on the shore fishing)
In the attached photos you will see a 1977 75hp Evinrude model 75743s with a bad impeller, I got the impeller kit, have the OEM service manual, cannot get the Lower Unit to separate from the exhaust housing. Someone must have used gorilla glue in this case....
Its really stuck / glued at the tip above the trim tab end. I have removed the trim tab, the 5/8" bolt behind it, the shift rod screw under carb 3, and the 4 - 9/16" bolts on the port & starboard sides.......
I have got some separation toward the transom side and have tooth brushed MEK and any other solvent I could find in the cabinent all the way toward the interface of the exhaust and LU housing until the brissels get stuck. I have wacked it with a rubber mallot and have already done damage to the trim fin on the starboard side. I am hoping it can be welded of course.
Anybody with any ideas other than a cutting torch ( havent tried that yet )
