Lubricate shift linkage

I have a 2001 Volvo SX outdrive on my boat.

I am replacing my boat's controller, and cables, and wondering if I should lubricate the shift linkage on the outdrive while I have the cover off. I have the Clymer manual; it doesn't say anything about lubricating that pivot arm or associated parts, but it seems like a good place to put some lubricant. Does anyone have any opinion on lubricating those parts? If so, what type of lubricant?

Nice Boat - I did a quick check in the drive manual and did not see where it states that lubrication is needed. I could email you the drive manual if you PM me with an email address

No lube on the drive linkage is necessary. The water works fine for no more than it moves.
