Can the control cables on a 1959 2-handle box be lubricated without removing the inner wire? Any tricks?

If the inner wire is removed, can it hang up when reinstalled? That's what worries me.

Finally, what lube should be used? The manual calls for an anti-corrosion oil.

Thanks!!

About the only way is to remove at the engine and elevate so that oil can run down by gravity. You will need a lot of patience as you will have to add oil and wait for it to run down. With a set that old, I would think it would be wise to opt for a new set of cables as you will most likely have rust and crud inside.

Ed, on the old boxs you can remove both ends of the cable and then remove the ends, straighten the crimp marks from the set screws and remove the boden wire n(center cable) it can be cleaned and lubed or replaced---Bob
