I figured I needed to grease the stern drive at some point but the owners manual does not help with that. What grease and what frequency? thank you.

Ayuh,..... Annual outdrive service starts with pullin' the drive for inspection of all the parts, pieces, 'n alignment,....

Grease the u-joints, if greaseable,...
Grease the input shaft,....
'n grease any zerts on the transom assembly, if there are any,....

Merc has been deletin' grease points since 1985, so I can't say exactly where yer gonna find 'em on yer drive,...

There are several zerts on the outdrive. What type of grease would I use for that?

The owners manual does not mention it anywhere that I found. Also, I tried linking up with some of the manuals, etc, included in one of the "do-not-respond-to-this-forum" forums but had no success with the links. I have a mac and it seems they did not like my version of flash player or something. Appreciate the help!

I'll grease the transom assembly at the zerts and either do the inspection myself in the fall or take it somewhere.

I see the point of getting the zerks greased, marine grease is the one you want, but doing the inspection like Bondo said isn't an option in the fall. Unless you are in the Southern Hemisphere its gotta be done before launching if you want to have a worry free time on the water, which will make it more enjoyable. In my opinion.

If you do it in the fall then it's all ready for spring.

That's what I was thinking. However, I think boaterinsd's point was that I did not do it last fall therefore I'm overdue and taking a risk--I can't disagree.
