I'm debating on trying the product in my wife's minivan to hopefully stop the slight slip it recently developed. Any testamonials out there?

Lucas makes good products. but it has been my experiance that if its slipping no additive is going to help it in the long run it will need repair. some additives cause more damage than do good

I have never used the Lucas in a tranny but every Lucas product i have used has worked great. Lucas is one of the few aditives that actually seem to work. K&W Transshift in the blue can is one that does work good.

Ran Lucas trans additive in mine... To me, it made no noticable difference, good or bad...

Re: Lucas Oil transmission additive

My Grand Cherokee had a little slip when cold between 2nd and 3rd for some time now. I've had lived with it for a about three years. After a few minutes of operation the symptom would go away. However, when the weather got cold this fall it was notably worse. I figured... nothing to lose but a few bucks. So, I added a container of the Lucas transmission "snake oil". I've been most impressed with the results. The cold slip has virtually disappeared. Most of the time when I use these sort of products it's a desperate attempt to avoid a big dollar repair job. Usually these acts of desperation are futile. However, this time I think the "transmission rebuild in a bottle" may have actually worked (at least for now).

I used to have a Taurus that would slip badly. Strangely enough, changing the transmission fluid regularly 'cured' the problem.

I saw the light!!!

I have to agree with Twidget.

Also, I would have to say that your transmision is trying to tell you something if a trans flush and fluid change dosnt help.

Im a beleiver in a trans fluid change once a year at least, more if you tow heavily. No need to power flush if you follow this regeime. Auto transmisions are very much under maintained.

Also, if your minivan is a Chrysler, It may be time to trade it off. They are known for week transmisions. They will not take "ANY" abuse whatsoever.

Re: Lucas Oil transmission additive

The new generation Chrysler minivans are NOT prone to transmission problems. Earlier generations however did have some reported issues. I've owned a few.

On my '97 3-spd I did try Lucas addititive while it was on its last legs. Seemed to help somewhat, but could not save me from the inevitable. In this instance, the transmission failure was a result of a failed rad cooler, and not abuse. I've seen a couple other's with OEM rad cooler failures since then.

I agree with you lubedude the problems I have seen in the past are people bring their vehicle in with slipping tranny and want a tranny flush and additive put in. ask them when was the last time it was done and they say never. tell them it will probally take it the rest of the way out and it usually does. preventive maint is low on most peoples prioroties where I work now we do tranny services every 10-12000 miles or 5-800 hours for regular atf and 30K for synthetic in light vehicles. we still have some problems but not many for a fleet of over 500 vehicles

Re: Lucas Oil transmission additive

I drained the pan and changed the filter on Wednesday(94 Nissan Quest). This had been done once before by the previous owner. The filter looked pretty good. Two pineapple ring shaped magnets in the pan were holding some fine, dark debris. The slipping became somewhat more noticeable on Friday and Saturday. I added the Lucas Oil product this morning and it seems to have helped. I don't look for this to be a long term fix, but hopefully it will hold until we get our tax refund.

good luck, hope it makes it for you, got AAA? (or other tow in insurance) Myself if it slips, it needs help, I just get one from the bone yard and go again!
