During the New London Sail Fest/Tall Ship Parade day, I was motoring down the Thames River to go fishing in the Sound. Manuvering amongst the hundreds of anchored parade watchers, I had a few photo opportunites that I took advantage of without anchoring, becuse I'd be soon on my way beyond all the parade commotion to go fishing. The manuvering included me going in and out of gear, both forward and reverse to keep myself from driftnig into the anchored boats. After about 15 mintues of photographing I left the area to fish cross the sound. Once I got to my spot (miles away from the crowds), I wanted to reset my drift when I found that the engine would not go into gear,
forward or reverse. I had to get towed in.
Glad to have insurance when you need it and glad it didn't break down when I was among the anchored parade watchers!
