I am looking at 2010 Alaskan Tiller with a Mercury 50 HP Four Stroke.
Is this enough motor?

Motor tests by Lund with 1 person and 10 gallons of gas:

50 4 stroke 27-31

60 4 stroke 28-32

75 4 Stroke 33-37

Any idea how the 50 will do with three people?

50 not big enough. I have a 60 on my '98 18' Alaskan, max hp. I recommend you get max. hp or the max you can afford. Put 4 guys and gear in the 20' with a full tank of gas and a 50 isn't enough. Hope this helps. You will be disappointed if your boat is underpowered.

I have the 20 Alaskan I bought specifically to duck hunt with. I have the 50hp Merc bigfoot and it tops out at 22-24mph. Get the biggest motor you can afford, max allowed hp for the boat. For duck season Oct to Dec I don't want to do 40mph in 35 degree weather. Fishing in the summer however is another story. Go big. Go large. Supersize it...
