I own a 99 SeaArk 1860 MV with a 60 Merc. on it and am thinking about going to a Lund 1800 Fisherman but when I looked at the 07 catalog I noticed that they don't list them. Did they discontinue them for 07 and if so what did they replace them with or what would be close to the Fisherman? Thanks for any help.

Re: Lund Fisherman 1800

I think they have been dropped from the Lund line up. I own a 2001 and watching the model develop over the years, it appeared to be getting very similar to the Tyee line. I think there are a few dealers around with an 06 or two.

Yep I checked with a dealer this morning and thats what he told me that they have been dropped. Said it was one of the most popular boats in the Lund line but was too much like the Tyee. Thanks for the info.

Re: Lund Fisherman 1800

Dear Mailman55,

I'm new to this forum, and new to boating, but I've been looking to Lund as my first boat. Anyway, it turns out that just yesterday I was in New York Mills, MN taking a tour of the Lund factory. Afterwards, I stopped in the office and grabbed a copy of the new 2008 catalog.

And there they are in the table of contents. "NEW 1850 Fisherman...page 41" and "New 1750 Fisherman...page 41".

They are indeed quite similar in specifications. The Tyee can handle slightly larger motors.

At the end of the tour I asked the guide which boat was the most popular of the sport boats (with consoles and full glass) and he said it was the Fisherman. The catalog says, "Back by popular demand...".

Hope this helps.

Re: Lund Fisherman 1800

I'll throw my 2 cents into this discussion. I purchased a 2002, 1700 Fisherman, with 150 Merc last year. Paid about 1/2 price compared to a new boat. Like a couple of others in this thread, I am a newbie to the bigger boat & engine. I seriously wrestled with whether to purchase a new or used boat - the used boat was a good move.

I have learned that I'd rather gain my boat experience on the used boat than a brand new one - the dings & bumps don't feel so bad. We travel extensively with ours here in the northwest and have put more miles on the outfit in 1 year than I think it had in the previous 5. Also, I am not itimidated on working on the boat my self. I've installed a bunch of extras including marine radio, pole holders, kicker engine, etc.

I love this boat - it handles very well, seems really safe. We are constantly going to new water, with new hazards. Again, having a used boat takes the sting out of close encounters with solid objects (i.e docks & rocks). One of these days I'll learn how to come into a dock in 25 mph wind. In a couple of years, once I feel like I've mastered "boatsmanship" I'd like to move up to a 1850 - it has a bit more room. We've fished comfortably with 4 people and 2 Jack Russells, though with a bit of excitement when fish are caught (if you own a Jack, you'll know what I mean.

Get a Lund, you'll love it.

Yes, the Fisherman is back!! Not sure what they changed on / in it. But they lowered the max hp rating. I just bought a used 2001 1800...it's rated for 175 hp whereas the 2008 is rated at 150...no real big deal. But, I suspect they didn't want the competition to be close to the Tyee.
