Was out on my boat today and learned that the livewell won't fill....pump is running but water is not being sucked up into the livewell. Manual says to unscrew the pipe a bit to let water in but didn't work. I rarely keep any fish anyway but am slightly annoyed that it isn't working as I sometimes use live minnows. I took the screen off in the back and it doesn't appear that it is blocked by anything....wondering if there is a kink in the hose somewhere or if pump isn't working properly...or perhaps it has to be primed? Anybody ever have issues with theirs? Still....it was a GREAT day to be out on the lake! Thanks

Re: Lund livewell

When you unscrewed the inlet pipe inside the live well "a bit," it may not have been enough. Try opening it all the way. That's pretty much what we had to do in our 2008 1750 Fisherman. I think the systems between the two boats are the same. -Ken

Re: Lund livewell

Tried it more than a little bit and still does not fill. Pump is on and if you put your hand in the water next to the inlet pipe there is no suction. When I got the boat back home, I took the mesh screen off and stuck my finger in the pipe and felt some sort of metal or hard object partway up the pipe (part of the pump?) Just wondering if it is clogged somehow. Any ideas? Thanks

Something in the pickup pipe? Sounds like you found the problem.

Okay, I know how incredibly stupid this is going to sound....but here goes....I shouldn't be feeling anything in the pipe about 3-4 inches in or so? If not, then that is the problem. Thanks

Re: Lund livewell

Sounds like the same problem that I had with my new Lund. The dealer wanted to take the floor/consoles out to see if there was a kink. After much research I suggested that we try a new pump cartridge. They are super easy to install and this was the exact problem with it. Motor was running but the livewell was not filling. I have now had to replace it a second time but this one seems to be working better than the first two. Try that its cheap and easy.

Re: Lund livewell

Thanks for the info....I found that the object part way up the intake was the pump (which made me feel less stupid and more stupid at the same time ). Looked in there with flashlight and it looks almost like a camera shutter when it is closed. I'm going to try it briefly with the flashlight on to determine if that is actually opening when the pump is running. I'll get water in it if someone stands on that side of the boat but it runs right out as soon as they move, so I don't think it's a kink in the hose of any sort. I'll look into the pump cartridge. Thanks

Re: Lund livewell

I hope you don't mind my intrusion. I have a 1998 Lund 19 ProV. My rear live well fills on it's own when I have the valve set on empty. Does the valve assembly control wear out. When I ran at high speed, the water was pulled out of the live well. Any suggestions as to what I should check first?

Re: Lund livewell

Hey The Ark,

Your livewell control is working properly. When you set the control to empty it opens the drain directly to the intake on the back of the boat. With the boat out of the water it drains the livewell. When the boat is in the water the livewell equalizes to the water level of the lake. The reason your front livewell doesn't fill on empty is that the bottom of the front livewell is higher then the lake water outside the boat. To empty the livewells on the water you set the control to empty while running and before you stop set the control to circulate which closes the livewell drains to the outside water and they will stay empty. I have a 1997 just like yours and I was kinda confussed at first but figured it all out by playing around with it for a while. Hope this helps!
