I want to put a livewell in the enclosed bench seat but all I can find are too wide, the Tempress ones all need an 11 inch rough opening the seat is only about 10 inches wide. Some people say that removing the foam reduces the structural integrity of the boat, but I'm not concerned about that. Most of the seat will still be intact. any sugustions? thanks, Tom from Columbia heigts Minnesota.

Buy a small cooler that fits if you can find one. Then you can use it for fish or beer Are you looking to use it for walleye and pike or just panfish or minnows. If walleye/pike then I woud think you will need something bigger than a little cooler. Assuming you are catching some big pike up there in Minnesota

I've thought about doing the same in my boat but opted to use the middle seat as a battery hatch instead. I use a basket that hangs over the side for my livewell.

I thought about that but I have two small kids that might use that to climb out of the boat. Plus I don't want any more clutter in my way. I Want to see if I can do a built in. It will be used for a limit of walleye with at least two people, and a bait bag. can't find a cooler for that. I move around a lot to find the fish, stringers and baskets beat up the fish pretty bad.

Well after some further research it looks like I have answerd my own question. I talked to Dan at fishmatepro.com and they are able to help me out. all of their livewells listed on line are too wide but I called them and they will modify them to the size I need, mount the pump, and pretty much everything else I need. Just thought this might be helpful to anyone else reading this thread.

Just so you are aware, removal of the floatation foam does not affect the structural integrity of the boat but is does affect the floatability. Get swamped and it will likely go down like a stone. Recovery of a sunken boat is not a cheap operation -- especially if the EPA gets wind of the sinking and the resulting fuel spill.
