I am looking at a 1987 18.5 Lund Tyee with the 4.3L and an OMC outdrive. I don't have much experience with OMC. I would appreciate any comments and help you might have. The boat appears to be very clean with low hours.
Thanks

Re: Lund Tyee

Everything sounded good until the OMC part. OMC has been out of business for 10+ years so parts and repair of the drive could be hard to come by. I'd pass and look for something different. Mercruiser or Volvo if going with an I/O. Actually, an outboard boat would be better. My Crestliner has an I/O and it has it's drawbacks.

I/O's; heavier, lower power to weight ratio, more maintenance but cheaper to repair, better fuel mileage, more deck space taken, must be winterized or the engine could crack.

Outboards; lighter, better power to weight ratio, more expensive to repair but less maintenance, worse fuel mileage, less deck space taken.

Thanks for the input. I've heard there may be a parts issue.
