I am new to boating and just purchased a 1999 LUND WC-14 rowboat. Does this need a boat cover while it is in the water?
There is no way it can be carried or dragged out of the lake each time after use (weight 230lbs). Boat will be taken out of the fresh water lake at the end of the season, & stored upside down for the winter. (no trailer) . Also what size gas motor is recommended? I am also looking at buying swivel seats for fishing. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

You will need to bail it out regularly if you leave it in the water all season. Just because there is a cover on it, doesn't mean water won't get into the boat. Covers tend to stretch with age and eventually water pools in low spots and eventually seeps through the fabric and in to the boat. So, for a WC-14, I would not use a cover. Just bail it out after it rains.

9.9HP motors are easy to find used, are fairly inexpensive, and will work well for that boat. I think the max HP on that hull is 25HP? You may want to buy an 18HP for it, but they are heavier and tougher to move around. Older Evinrude/Johnson 9.9HP 2 strokes are extremely light and portable.

Boat seats to go over the bench style seating in that boat can be purchased at many places such as Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops.

Congratulations on that boat! They are extremely durable, functional boats! There is a reason that most resorts up in this part of the country use that boat for resort use. They last forever and can take a beating!

Those Lund 14 footers are great boats.:)

You might consider adding a Minn Kota with a small deep cycle if you plan on using it for fising.

If you do that you could also install a bilge pump on a float switch so you would never have to worry about bailing water out after rain/condensation.

You would need to charge the battery to top it off after use.

Welcome to iboats:D

We cover our Lund WC14.The cover we got it's for 14' boats (just a generic trailerable cover from Canadian Tire) and for extra water proofing i sprayed some water repelant stuff that also contains UV inhibitors.I leave the seat backrest in the UP position so that the cover sits like a tent so water won't pull and it works. When the boat is stored i double cover it with a Storage type cover...maybe it's overkill but we love our boat too much not to protect it as much as we can.
