1984 M/C 470 w/2 barrel Rochester carbuetor. I suspect the float is stuck open. When cranking gas is just pouring thru the carburetor. The gas continues to pour for a few seconds after you stop cranking. I just wanted to get some other thoughts before I tear into the carburetor. The engine was running fine then went to crank her up and she would not start. I could hear the gas flowing in the carburetor. I pulled of the spark arrestor and could see the gas flowing in. I had to be towed in, sure glad I joined Boat US.

Comments please.

More likely you have a piece of "something" stuck in the needle and seat.
Pop off the top and remove the float and needle, then blow out the seat. replace the fuel filters and check the flaot level.
You should be good to go.
Napa has a kit for it, some of them even stock it. But no more than a day out anyway. And it comes with all the parts, plus a acc. pump. For 1/2 the price of other places.

...and the 'ol Bifflefan is correct, as usual. Just be aware that the 2 barrel Rochester for the 470 came in two bore sizes, 1-3/8" and 1-5/8". Copy the tag and body numbers, or take the base plate gasket with you to assure you get/order the correct kit. The NAPA P/N for the 1-5/8" is 18-7076. :)
