not as brave as some of you guys, so I opted for
an AL hull. no more wood stringers :D
she's a '76 22' starcraft islander in excellent
origional/mech. condition. mostly needs cosmetic
TLC. origional paint is shot and want to re-paint
her. any reccomendations for me re: prep, primer
and paint choices/application techniques?
also the old girl has been drilled many times over
the years and has a few extra holes... jb weld/sand?
and a few areas around windsheild(s) and anchor
pulpit that look like I might have some water
intrusion, a few have silicone caulk...
will try to post pics a little later today of
my new bouncing baby girl. man I love boats!
feel like a kid with a great new toy :p

JB weld has it's place, but if you plug the holes with it and sand, it will eventually fall out. I'd have them welded in from inside and then sand flush on outside. Or easier would be to put proper size rivet in the holes and it will not look out of place. I love aluminum boats too. Never have to worry about rot and you can enjoy boating a little more and not worry about all the care that fiberglass and wood requires.(I still own a glass/wood boat though ;) .)
