Hi all I have a inboard with a stern drive and I think I've mounted the M260 in hull transducer in the wrong spot, I've mounted it towards the stern in the Engine bay And I think is picking up noise interference from the motor. Only happens when moving. Has anyone else having problems like this.
Cheers

What kind of boat and is there anything in front of the transducer?

Transducers are for the most part immune to "electrical" noise yet very subceptable to turbulence in the water.
The transducer needs to be mounted in a location where the hull is free of obstructions from the bow to the transducer. Lifting strakes, thru hull fittings, etc. are a no-no. Typically, the further from the transom you go the better off you are. My thru hull transducer is 18" from the transom and just outside the diameter of the prop. I get some "noise" backing down hard, but nothing I can't live with. Both problem marking fish at 30 knots

Hi alldodge It's a fiberglass boat 1 inch thick solid fiberglass no core. But there is another throu hull transducer that has a paddle wheel that is not in use. It will eventually be coming out( throu hull transducer)

If that thru hull is anywhere near the transducer the turbulence it would make could cause what your experiencing. Even if the hull has some growth that is in front could cause similar issues.
