Made a big mistake - how to correct it?!

Getting ready for the long weekend - exited to go fishing, I've made a big mistake. I've topped off my 6.5 gallon tank for my boat (4-stroke EFI) engine with Methanol!!!! I've had some methanol left over from my Biodiesel making and I accidentally added about 1/3 of the tank to top it off!!!

I know I have to remove that mixture from the boat tank before I run the marine engine which doesn't tolerate E15 very well so I'm sure Methanol will not be welcome in the combustion chamber or in any of the hoses.

Question - after I siphon it out of there - what can I do with a Premium fuel that's 30% methanol?! Can our Honda Pilot run on it or should I not risk adding it to the tank?!

dilute it down to 5%and you will be alright. Running methanol in a gasoline setup will run lean. You need a lot more methanol than gasoline to burn the same amount of air. The idea of BBQ or bonfire starter is a good one. Really you are just wasting 4 gallons of gasoline, which is not the end of the world.

Yeah, that a real good way to need a new lawnmower, weedeater, chainsaw, etc......they don't handle alcohol any better than the boat motor, probably less so, We are having a ton of problems from Alcohol in small engines,

Find someone with an flex fuel e-85 vehicle. It will run on it just fine, with slightly reduced mpg. Sell it to them for $10 if you wish. If they are concerned, have them dilute it down with a full tank of gas or just tell them you got e85 by mistake.... It would run just fine, almost exactly like running e85 through the engine.

do not put it in a small engine. when they run lean, they run hot. when they run hot, they fail.

Works fine for me. And if you've had E10 for 20+ years like we have then you don't have issues with alcohol in small engines, you know enough to increase the mixture so that they don't run lean.
