I always launch and load solo so nobody to hold the brakes for me.
This holds the brake pedal down so my car doesn?t accidentally roll down into the lake. lol
Parking brakes by design don?t hold so well in reverse. Also when they are wet they don?t hold as well.
Parking brakes only lock the rear 2 wheels. This method locks all 4 wheels.
When driving the boat onto the trailer there is a huge amount of force on the parking pin in the transmission. I?ve seen it rock back and forth a lot.
I've used this method for many years and it works great. The problem with a straight stick is I would knock it loose with my knee when getting in and out.
I used this many times this year and its been working great.
