Made a mistake!!!

Okay, so it was my fourth time out since I bought my boat. This is the first time I've made a mistake, but I think it may have been a big one. When I pulled the boat out of the water the outdrive dragged across the ramp. As soon as I saw it I stopped and put it up, but there was a bit of weight on it.

I don't know if anything broke, but what could I be looking at for a repair if anything?

THANKS!

i would think as long as there is no visual damage or anything broken and the motor runs and drives ok, you should be alright.

That's what I'm hoping. The bottom was scraped up but I didn't see any damage really.

Check for cracks around the outdrive in the the fiberglass. I've done it a few times and never broke anything. I watched a guy just last week drag his outdrive up the ramp and across the lot, he had his windows up and didn't hear me yelling. ten minutes later my jetski sank because I forgot the drain plugs. lol. Isn't boating fun. It happens, your prob fine.

Been there too. Why they put skegs on drives. Just don't ever try and back up with the drive dragging. As long as it still works and isn't cracked your fine.

I just went out with a nice bright LED flash light and I didn't see any cracks at all. Hopefully the next time I put her in she'll start right up and go. Thanks guys, this is an awesome forum!

Two types of boaters, those, like you and most of us, who have dragged a drive and those who will in the future.

Did this ONCE also. 12 years later, whenever I'm ready to trailer, the wife always asks "is the drive-thingy up?". Haven't done it again....lol:)

Re: Made a mistake!!!

My wife has 1 thing to ask me every time we launch the boat and when we pull it out:
Launching: "Is the drain plug in?"
Retrieving: "Is the drive up?"

I have to remember she's doing it because I asked her, smile, and say thank you.
