With the height of my boat I can't see anything directly behind me. So I made this little setup.

Sooo happy with the results. I wish I did this years ago.

The camera isn't waterproof. I make a waterproof case from 3/16 plexiglass.

Acrylic weld and also marine silicone on seams as extra precaution. This isn't leaking anytime soon.

With the 7 pin connector, getting 12 volts was simple. I just use the main connector and nothing else to deal with.

That's great! I'm curious if there is a noticeable lag between when things happen and when appear on the display. Regardless, it's a great setup. More people need to do this.

Thanks.

No lag at all.

I'm worried about nighttime driving with car headlights washing out the screen.

I forgot to mention. If anyone is going to do this. You must get a camera made for backup. Otherwise objects will show up on the opposite side on the LCD.

Good job.
Could you have mounted it to the boat transom, then use it to spot fish :-0.

Can't you turn it off for might use? You'll see headlights pretty easily coming up behind you.

Very cool. Was planning on putting a wireless one on our wakeboard tower to make it easier to back into storage unit.

Thanks for sharing.
