*sigh* so we got our lower unit off (76' mercruiser 120), cleaned out all the junk, took out the water pump impeller and bought a new one so we can install it when we get home. There's one big problem. We forgot which direction the impeller fins were turned when we took it out! We don't have a service manual yet but that's top of the list to buy.
Is there a way we can tell which way the old impeller was sitting in the housing? Its all frayed, cracked and bent up so we for sure needed a new one. I don't want to set the impeller in the housing with the fins turned the wrong direction. Won't be making this mistake again
