used 1/2" galvanized... put some pipe wrap around it, then slid 1.25 thick wall pvc pipe over it... filled the voids with expando foam.

Attached it to the trailer using some tractor implement couplers with a pin and key.

used a 2" led round light for the topper and wired it up with 2 post trailer harness.. so these guys are 100% removable quick and easy.

when all done I sprayed them with some plastic paint (color: pebble to match the boat)

What do you think??

im going to come back tomorrow and add some plate to the bottom of the coupler to distribute a blow better.

total cost 64.37

Great Job, I'll be copying you idea this weekend. Being new to boating, this is my weakest area. I'm not a total jackass getting the boat back on the trailer, but have been told that this type of thing would be a big help. I like your design & will copy. Thanks for posting. MAXX

the kits are only a couple more bucks, another idea that I've used is go to a muffler shop and have them bend two 5' 2" tubes of SS, it's like ten bucks, then put your pvc over that, muffler clamps hold it to trailer.

Doesn't look like stainless hardware. I'd make sure that you are removing those every time they get wet so that the pins don't seize in the holes.

Are you planning on traveling with the posts installed?

Moving to Trailer's ;)

Where did you get the LED that fit the PVC?

Yes I would also be concerned about rust with the hardware ;)

the tractor couplers are gold zinc plated.. the pins are stainless... the poles are galvanized with rustoleum over it.. probably not the best.. but it'll work..

I made them removable so If I wanted I can take them off for travel.
I mainly wanted some flags for backing the trailer up to the water.

My truck is a 4x4 f150 and I have a time seeing the trailer to back up to the ramps.. Im getting better at using my mirrors.. The guides for loading are an added plus.
