I'm going to add a couple of small magnesium anodes to my Evin 55hp that didn't come factory equipped for such. I have sanded off the paint down to bare metal where the anodes will attach. Is this the correct procedure ? What material fasteners should I use?

Thanks
ray

Stainless steel fasteners with anti-sieze on the threads.

You're good to go.

Better still .. aluminum bolts and nuts.

The basic principle for any marine fastener is to make sure that the fastener is more 'noble' than the item being fastened. You don't want it to drop off because the fastener corrodes away, do you?

But it is always good to keep the galvanic dissimilarity between fasteners and the item being protected to a minimum - so fit fasteners that are more 'noble' than your magnesium anodes, but as close to the item you're protecting - your motor and leg - as possible. Stainless will increase the corrosion rate of lesser metals, like your leg and even your mag anodes.
