were is the magneto located at? on a 1960 johnson 75 hp seahorse. this maybe a stupid question but isit in the distributor??? <br />the reason i ask is when the distrubtor is off the motor and is spun the plugs spark when there grounded to it.

There are two different ignition systems on those. Either battery or magneto. With the magneto, everything is self-contained in the distributor. Sounds like yours is functioning well.

well it wasent till i rebuilt it 2 and 4 wouldent fire but i got them sparking hot as 1,3 but dident seem to make any diffrence. it still wont rev up. in neutral or forward,reverse. i checked the timing, points, carb, linkige adjustments, sparkplugs, distrubtor, fuel pump, what else should i check please help thanks for your time
