Well even though it was windy as heck, I had to take it out for the first time. Had put alot of time and just wanted to see if it was going to run. Started good, in a short period of time it idled good, shifted and steered good, that is the good. The bad, trim/tilt guage does not work, speedometer does not work. I appologize in advance for my lack of knowlege, but I was very confused how the tilt/trim works, I used the trim button to raise the lower unit to trailer to the boat launch, then when I went to raise it after we were finished I wouldnt go up?? I then used the tilt button to raise it? I am sure it is just "operator error" maybe someone can educate me on that. Also fairly minor issue I need help with, my swim ladder has 4 bolts holding it to the deck, which are all loose. I am assuming there is a nut on the other side but I have found no way to gain access to the nuts for tightening. Here is a picture, thanks again all. Brad2011-11-06 14.26.04.jpg

Re: Maiden Voyage!!!

Hello,

If the screws are loose, then the seal is broken.
Here's how to get it done..it's a PITA for sure.

Take a box end wrench (mine was 5/16") and tape the open end into some aluminum tube.
I used some left over conduit from an old project. Cut to length...mine is 3 feet long.

Fish it under the platform until it catches on the nut. Have a buddy ( i used one of my kids) to unscrew
until the nut came loose and fell into the bilge. There should also be a backing plate....it may or may not
come loose with the nut.

Repeat for all 4 nuts.
Remove the old sealant as much as possible.
I used the same bolt I removed (pushing in and out) to get most
of the internal sealant removed.

Squirt some 3M 4200 into the hole, then ladder and bolts into the ladder
and platform home. Lift up 1/2 and squirt some 3M between the ladder and the platform
so really seal the sucker.

NOW THE HARD PART!

Super glue the nut into the box end wrench.
Have a buddy rotate the screw while u fish the nut under the platform
until it catches. Tighten down until snug and repeat for the others.
Then tighten all down securely.

It's a PITA, but it works and your swim platform is now sealed :)
