Hi folks I'm from NJ but my grandparents have a summer place on Thompson Lake in Maine. I'm up there for a week or two every summer. I've read a few things about Long Lake and Sebago and have always thought it would be fun to go over and explore those lakes since I found out a lock connects the two. It's only about a 30-45 minute drive from our cabin to the Northern end of Long Lake.
So it would be nice to explore all the way through from the Northern end of Long Lake down through Sebago, possibly stay overnight somewhere on Sebago before heading back North to wherever we launched the boat. How long of a trip is this? Where is fuel available on either of these lakes? Are there any restaurants or hotels/inns on either lake? What about campsites, or just plain decent places to camp out? If we make the trip we'd probably want to stay overnight and make the most of it, either camping or getting a room.
When we do this trip it would either be in my grandparents 18' Excel or my 21' Marlin. Both are open bow, though the Marlin is a lot more roomy and has twice the fuel capacity, as well as over twice the horsepower. Depends on how much gas costs whether I bring that up with me.
