I recently acquired a 115 Intruder on a 17' bowrider. The engine runs fine, and the previous owner was meticulous about winterizing the engine (fogging the cylinders and changing the lower unit oil. However, he did not believe in gasoline additives such as decarboning agents (so this is one of the first things I'll do in the spring). The only issue is that he said the boat runs 4-5 mph slower than when new - would decarboning cure this?
Also, the owner's manual is pretty sparse when it comes to maintenance, beyond the usual greasing of fittings, lower unit oil change, and power trim fluid level. Are there any trouble spots or known issues about these engines I should pay special attention to?
