I wonder if he had an anchor? I do not see any lines coming off his bow, makes me wonder if this could have been avoided by simply dropping an an anchor long before getting in to such mess.

Good point, Grindcore! If I was boating anywhere near a dam like that I would have a serious anchor on board. It would be in the water the minute the engine thought about quitting!
