I need to make a bait well for my center console. I planned to use a white polypropelene (plastic) drum, cutting it to size. My issue is that it is 24" wide which is too wide for my needs. I cut one to the shape that I needed which ended up being shaped like a D from a top view. This removed part of the side of the drum that I planned to "glue" more of the same material in place to have a flat back side which would be against the helm side of my console. My issue with this is that adhesives recommended for polypropelene (which is rare) seem to be rather expensive. The normal practice according to what I've seen it to use a hot air welding method that is described to be very difficult foe the novice DIY'r. Polyester resin surely does not adhere enough for my liking. Several of the Epoxy glues in the stores clearly stated "Not for Polypropelene" and some other poly items. I thought about using my cut drum as a mold to build my own livewell in but not real sure about that either. Any ideas on a wood free design to be able to build?

EE, How about a cooler of the correct size. The insulation will keep the bait cool, and you could sit on it to fish. You can find a pump that you install thru hull to fill it with fresh water, let it splash in. Make an overflow drain pipe to drain the water over the side. if you want to be really fancy, have the overflow go thru the side of the cooler 3/4 of the way up, and use an elbow to run a pipe to the bottom to pick up any waste. When you aren't fishing, turn off the pump and fill the cooler with ice and beer.
