malfunctioning choke 18 hp nissan 4 stroke

I have difficulty starting thie engine when cold. Starts fine when warmed up.I manually choke the carbeurator by putting my hand across the air intake duct and crank the engine and it will cold start. It appears that the automatic choke is not working . Any suggestions?

You can take it into a dealer and have it checked or you can check the auto-choke yourself.
