A man card is the achievement that all men strive for. A man card shows that you belong to a special brotherhood. To get a man card a guy has to prove his worth.
He gets up early to shovel snow, he plays tea party with his little girl, sits up all night with a teething baby and goes to work in the morning. He isn't afraid of dirty diapers, vomit, or tampons. Guarenteed he will be cleaning a gun when he meets his lil girls new boyfriend and will still be cleaning the same gun when they get home. You should not be surprised to hear something like "Do you believe in God son? If you hurt that girl, I'll make sure you meet him." come out of his mouth.
He teaches his sons what it takes to be a man. He teaches them to fix everything. He teaches them patience, reason, logic, responsibility. He passes on how to stay calm under pressure, panic is for sissy's. When to fight and when to use your head.
A man card holder will give his word and keep it. A handshake is his bond. He knows right and wrong and sticks to his beliefs. His wife (or girlfriend) is his Queen and WILL be treated as such. He will defend her at all cost, even from her own family. He loves unconditionally and expects the same. He will go shopping with her on Sunday during Football season. He respects his parents and remembers where he came from. His vehicle is most likely old and tired but the one his kids ride in isn't.
He will take one hell of an *** whooping from a woman and never hit her back. The only girl he has ever hit was his sister and most likely she hit him first. He has his friends' back, even if that friend is wrong. He will get up at 3 a.m. to retrieve his buddy who's car broke down and is stranded over an hour away because his buddy's wife and kids have the "good" car. He has no problem buying his clothes at a second hand store so that the kids can wear Hollister. He has a working knowledge of just about everything and can just about repair anything. He will figure it out. If he can't, that buddy he rescued probably can.
Man Card holders commit the sin of pride everyday...pride in their family, work, accomplishments. They do it all day, everyday. They don't brag or *****. Their happiness comes from the life they have carved out for themselves, usually with their own two hands and the sweat off their brow. They will have at least one toy and they cherish it.
I got my man card Oct. 31 1996. It is my biggest achievement

Honor... A very rare trait these days. I've spent a lot of time on iboats lately... Ask me why;)

Very well spoken, itsaboattime.

Care to share with us, the event (or events) leading up to the inspiration for this post? Sounds like a profound experience inspiring the insatiable desire to share... I'd love to hear more about it, if you so choose.

So that is not bragging or boasting? Could have fooled me. The best men I have known are very modest about it.

I traded my kiddy card up for a Kid card...then traded up to a Boy card..after a bit of trading I upped to a boy/man card..lost that somewhere so had to get a man card...After wisdom took over I stopped trading cards :) ..

Now I just sit and smile quietly ;) ...

Usually your dad will let you know when you're ready to receive your man card. It will be the first time you shake his hand and look him square in the eye...

It's supposed to be "brag or B*tch".
I posted it just because.
My boys are all over 18 now. My oldest turns 20 tomorrow. My middle son is 10th Mtn Division in Afghanistan right now. My youngest is finding his way, the hard way.
All 3 are well on their way to getting their Man Cards.
Your right JB, most are modest about it. They just sit back and keep thier mouths shut.
If posting this came off a bragging, it was unintenional. Every man card holder in this forum knows what I am talking about, including you.....lol.

Re: Man Card

I asked my wife if I could see my man-card again before she left for work today. She quickly said 'No' and mumbled something under her breath as she walked out the door...

Oh, well...maybe tomorrow...
