Man it is COLD out!

-12 degrees f out there right now according to my thermometer. Wind chill is about -25*. The coldest I've ever seen is -29* with wind chill at -59*, about 27 years ago. What's the coldest you've ever had to get through?

I don't recll, but much colder than now. It's right after the Super Bowl and the TV is already flashing school closings for tomorrow due to the cold. I never saw that before.

On the ramp at Elmendorf AFB, AK, on new years day, 1957.

-30* with a 30kt wind. Wind chill must have been -80*.

Yep, school closings here in WI. Wife got the happy news a couple of hours ago. About -11 right now here in So. WI. -25 w/wind chill. Cancelled my snowmobile trip to the UP due to the temps, and other issues.

It's 4* here along the Muddy Banks (that's what the weather channel is saying anyhow and they are usually off by a few degrees) and predicted to go to 1 or 0 with wind chills from -10 > 20 below 0. Ain't supposed to get out of the 20's for the next week.

Can't really say how long ago it's been but I remember several years back temp stayed in the celler like this for almost 10 days.

House up the street caught fire late this afternoon. We were able to confine it to the kitchen but the brick street became an ice rink. Had to get the village street dept. (two guys) to come in and put salt down. Real mess.

EDIT: Local news says 3* with a wind chill of -18. Near every school around is closed.

January 1982, ski trip to the UP of Michigan. It only got above 0 one day out of the first 4 days. Then the REAL cold front moved in. We left 2 days early.

It was -44F, and the wind chill was -91F. The highways were officially closed and barricaded at noon. The throttle return spring froze on my van.

The Wisconsin state record low temp was -55F in 1996, about 60 miles from me.

Currently -17F at 2:30 am, and no official word that the schools will be closed on Monday.

It's almost 7 am and it is -8 in the yard and about a 20 mph wind with that.......I don't even want to figure in the wind chill.

-5 here. I oppened the door to let the dog out this morning and immediately say fudge...As soon as the door opened there was fog or whatchamomacallit started rolling in like when you open the freezer door. I thought, man.....I'm anxious to get to work to discuss the Colts Super Bowl victory with my co-worker but damm it, I don't want to go out in this shttt.:|

It is only 7 degrees here so not as bad as some of you have it. The neighbors dog got stuck to a tree this morning. Last night I had to break a flame off in the wood stove to take to bed with me to stay warm. Sounds like where you guys are it's as cold as my mother in law's stare.

I was in Grand Rapids Michigan all weekend.Blizzard conditions,-30 wind chill.In Ohio this morning,-2 high of 7 today. Glad i'm heading south.Daytona next weekend...can't wait! Hope the diesel engine starts this morning..:%

shame guys here it is 37 (celsius) today .... that would be 98.6 degrees fahrenheit ..... no wind, beautifull day, can't wait for work to end so I can go run a few laps in the waves with my boat .......

As I drove to go jump start my girlfriends car that woudnt start this morning at her work, the truck thermometer said -18F, but that could be off by a degree or two......not like that would be noticeable. Wind chills are over 40 below, and like others every school in the are is closed. The university of coarse isnt, but I wont be going. I really have no desire to walk 15-20 minutes from where I park to my class.

The coldest I personally have seen was last Febuary. I was up north for an ice fishing trip with my dad. At night it got down to -32F. During the day when I was cutting holes in the ice is was -15 or so. By the time i cut hole number 6, the first one was iced over. The next morning I had to redrill........I couldnt even chip out the holes. Caught some northerns though 8)

Since I'm laid off I'm not leaving the house except for beer or other food. Got a lot of indoor projects lined up. Was -14 at 1:30 AM, up to -6 now. Wonder how many of my companies diesels started this morning. The truck I drove Friday I think had a bad block heater. Told then about it cuz I still cared but I bet it's dead in the water. Guy below me in seniority was forced to come in at 1 AM because he is a big brown noser and didn't sign off until he got a recall notice.
