manifold installation

Any tips or tricks to installing a new mani? Should I install the riser to the mani first? Is gasket sealer required on the riser or end plate?<br /><br />Thanks

Sealer on the riser gaskets depends on who's manifolds, risers, and gaskets you have. If Mercruiser, the manifold to riser gasket is installed without sealer. The end caps can be coated with Mercruiser Perfect seal. Manifold to head gasket dry.

Thanks Don the manifold is a Barr and the riser? Dunno it was on the boat when I got it. It doesnt appear to be very old, and looks in good shape.

Any other type of gasket sealer I can use? There is no mercery dealer near me , what would be ok from an auto part store?<br /><br />Thank you
