HELLO, I have a 1972 mercury 1150 6 cyl, outboard that is mounted on a 72 glastron gt 160. I just bought boat and motor and I cannot figure out how to release it to tilt the motor. I know their is a latch or something I just can't find it, any help would be great, thanks

rodbolt, If i pull the trim pin i can lift the motor so the shocks are good, and netural does not do it. I have not checked it in the foward position yet,

Re: manual tilt "mercury outboard"

Hi dave<br />Merc's lock in the down position when in reverse or neutral. The reverse lock keeps the motor from climbing up while backing. The lock during the neutral position is so you can manualy start the engine. Other wise you would pull it into the boat with you. When you need to tilt the motor shift to forward.
