manual tilt on 40 hp evinrude

My Evinrude has a manual tilt and it very hard to tilt up by hand. The lever will hold it up and it works right when you release the lever to lower.. but just raising it is all I can do to get it up. I don't see anyway of checking the oil. I had another Evinrude and I could pick it up with two fingers. But no this one... Need Help...

My 87 Evinrude 50 hp did not have a tile. Picked one up on E-Bay for $225. Works great.

Speed2101, I have been searching the internet for this information for a very long time.. I joined the site yesterday and in one day, I get the answer I been searching for..<br />Thanks.... mabo21
