Motor 2006 Mercury 150hp EFI 2 stroke

Is it normal to have to regularly clean out the MAP sensor?

I find if the MAP is not cleaned out with MAP sensor spray the motor will run rich and foul plugs at rpms lower than 3800rpm.

If i clean it after every couple of trips the fuel flow responds to lower throttle settings, if it is not cleaned the fuel flow stays high when backing off the throttle to lower rpms and fouls the plugs.

(Fuel flow is taken from Smartcraft)

I am considering taking the MAP out of the intake manifold and remotely mounting it with a hose from the intake manifold. This should stop the oil building up in the MAP and causing the blockage.

What do you guys think:confused:

Thanks in advance.

Re: Map Sensor

How does engine idle? is it a little lopey? I would check the reeds and injectors on #1 & 2 cylinders as there is some type of "blowback" hitting the sensor as that intake runs pretty darn clean...

Re: Map Sensor

Idles perfectly, only plays up when trying to run the motor at slow cruise speeds...around 3300 rpm. When playing up it sounds like a tractor motor, when running well it sounds smooth and quieter.

When it sounds like a tractor it is runing at 31 litres per hr at 3300 rpm, when it sounds good its running at 25 litres per hr at 3300 rpm.

When the MAp is dirty it doesnt respond to backing off the throttle and the fuel flow stays higher than it should.
