Mariah boats quality???

Hello all,

I recently traded boats. I received in trade a 1997 shabah z252 7.4L bravo 3.....450hrs on engine.......are mariahs good boats? I can't find much about them. Nice looking boat

Ayuh,.... At 20 years old, it's more 'bout Condition than manufacturer,...

You'll find the build quality well above, say a bayliner,....

A compression/ leak-down test, along with a diagnostic tune up will tell ya the general over-all health of the motor,...

An ice pick, or a drill will tell ya the over-all health of any wood in the hull,...

IMO a very well made boat. I think they went broke because they didn't sell any cheap boats. They only old high end boats and were to new a company to gain a following like some or the other high end quality manufactures. The folks that were buying Cobalt, Formula and others stuck with their brands and had taken a look but company didn't last long enough to start making a profit

They were decent boats.

I've ridden in a few over the years and IMHO, I think the level of build and materials were on par with Cobalt, Chaparral and Larger Sea Rays. But as mentioned...condition and maintenance trump brand at 20 years old.

The old Mariah's were well made boats (pre 2001). The newer ones are OK but more on the budget end (I have a 2006 SX20).

My neighbor owns a 18' Mariah, boat has sat for the last 10 years, seems like a nice boat
I think he had a electrical issue and just parked it, years ago I remember some talk about electrical issues on Mariah's.

Telling him he needs to sell instead of let sit, could be a good deal for someone with some mechanical ability
